Mood wanes with energy. Energy wanes with available sunlight. Time to migrate south, or hibernate like the body dictates. But our fake-ass economy will never allow for that.
I feel your pain. My mate suffers "SAD" (Seasonal Affective Disorder, er somethin' like that), and I have far less energy in the shorter days of Winter too.
I think you're spot on about it all (the fact that we force our cycles to accomodate our artificially created work schedules instead of the other way around).
I don't know what the solution is so if you hear of one, I'd be all ears.
