If Id'a known Id'a never. . .
Bottled the altbier tonight because I didn't want to do it on Friday the 13th and we're going to be outta town for the weekend. But that's really what I needed - a full day. It took me 4½ hours to get roughly four gallons (plus the dregs which are wonderful, and are keeping me from typing now. . . hic! Beginners skill!) I have a FG of 1.016 {from OG 1.050} and. . .
• 4 2L growlers (for material a support party)
• 9 pints (swingtops, to enjoy with guests and friends), and
• 12 - 12oz US bottles (to give away)
It smells yummy and malty, it tastes yummy and malty and I need to remember to have all my equipment handy (no more last-chance trips to Home Depot: Although, walk in there 5 minutes before they close, ask a bunch of stupid questions and when they want to know about the application tell them "beer". Even the 'I-could-a-give-a-shit-less' crowd will do back flips to help you! No matter what you're looking for tell them you're making beer!) make a bottling bucket that doesn't spend the last gallon filtering dregs. 2ndary everything,
definitely be more patient with myself! I can do this. . . . I have done this. Shit, Scotty even said he liked it more than the professional, fizzy, hoppy IPA from Sweetwater Tavern that I was drinking in process. Bottled on 10/12/2006 and ready to chill and drink by 10/26/2006!
It sucked and took way too much time.
I will send the 1st beer bottled of my 1st batch to J-me to archive in his beer shrine (Yes, Dude has a
beer shrine), but to be enjoyed no later than April 1st, 2007. Make tape labels accordingl, post to
homebrewing and the rest . . .
GOodnight~
