The People Coop
Jun. 19th, 2006 01:15 pmMore on this movie of Al Gore's and then I'll STFU . . .
Remember Ross Perot and his graphs? If you pay attention to nothing else in this film look at the graphs! They're all the same, whether they reflect population, heat content, CO2 dissloved in the atmosphere, whatever. Basically, they're a line running from left to right with a marked - and I mean mostly vertical - incline on the far right (hmmmmmmm . . . not unlike a wave!) One in particular that freaks me out the most is a chart of over-all human population throughout history that is a "flat" line with a few bumps all the way across the chart and then a big mountain at the present.
If this were reflective of a stock price, I'd sell . . . .
If it were reflective of winnings in a poker game, I'd cash in . . . now!
If it were reflective of a crops' yield, I'd harvest . . . now!
We are raised in a people coop. We are being harvested . . .
EDIT: For the record, I could give a shit about global warming. What concerns me is renewable sources of energy. Every civilization in human history has collapsed because they've mismanaged their natural resources (mostly for the sake of unchecked growth) and, as a result, used up all of their energy.
Oh, except for the Mayans. I think they just got fed up with the rat-race and returned to the jungles and their hunter/gatherer lifestyles which worked so well for them the last 30,000 years.
