A place for everything and everything in its place.

Then it follows that every place has a thing.

Hmmm

The precedence in this statement is the thing and not the place; that we should question our connection to any thing that doesn't seem to have a place, the flotsam which makes up piles in the corner; that we consider a place for that thing that we always need and always spend too much time looking for because the its proper place is a variable, and not an absolute.

I don't look to the attribute of place for a solution because the place is as it is and largely unchangeable. But things, on the other hand . . . My problem currently is that the place has way more than it's share of things, and over that I exercise some modicum of control.

this piece of philosophy is coming at me at the exact same moment that i'm getting a real handle on how much my assumptions of what's about to happen influence my inability to deal with what actually happens when the time comes.

in that respect, i definitely need to buy you a beer sometime soon, so we can get this shit off our chests...

If you have that luxury. But my experience with this leads me to think that more place begets more things; it's the pathology of materialism.

Same problem here. The more I throw out, the more there is to throw out. It's never ending. I bet the neighbors wonder what the hell's going on when I toss out 6-8 giant trash bags every weekend. Spare body parts...
