[livejournal.com profile] duckmonster'n Dale and I collaborated on some serious in-roads to completing a certain task within SF0. They helped me setup the rig and get he boil started, then we went in Annandale for pho and had a brilliant time. Got back just in time to dump the heads that were only just beginning to express. All in all, we conjured off about a 120 ml of some really grizzly smellin' votchka, and shared tastes of a couple of my earlier experliments. They brought me a really cool tea pot, and we simulated the brewing of the beer that we weren't able to document for the task with a tea ceremony before hand. Jess and Dale get it, and that's why I love them.

They left just in time to avoid some of the really crazy frequency that began to congregate while we were out to lunch (heh, there's a lesson in that). Some of the the old annandale contingent showed up with the tinder, and later a rival brought the match. I was standing five feet away when two big men's egos overlapped with an audible crack to the chin and and the resultant drag down that Scotty was able to separate eventually while I pulled musical instruments and lamps out of their way. Far be it from me to intercede in someone elses' brawl only to give one opponent an advantage over the other. Then I'm involved. Besides, there was 20 years of rivalry colliding inevitably and it was on scotty's side of the house, and Lar was holdin' his own. . .

He described later that 'los had him in a tight spot and was left with what he felt was the last option: Bash los' teeth out with a head-butt. He was back after scotty manned up and threw both of them out. . . But then, Lar had not been the aggressor in this match, and he is certainly crew and mostly welcome here; the situation, however, is not. I told him that I really didn't appreciate that shit going down at my home. Not that I wasn't right there to see for myself, but he reiterated that 'los threw the first punch (nailing him squarely in the mouth) but he still felt that he was victorious, that scott gave him the point for the drag down and the pin, as if the UFC regulates the drunken brawls in my house. I told him that he's victorious for not taking a shot to the other with a head butt that would've, at best, escalated the fight and, at worst, knocked out los' grill. The good news is no one sustained any permanent injuries and no one ended up in the pokey, and so all's good.

I always maintained that no sooner than the absinthe comes out the crazy isn't far behind, but I thought, for most part, one needed to be partaking to channel the crazy. Linda brought Leslie, who had never visited us before at medford, where it's not a secret for long that I am the head brewer here. Naturally, Leslie was became curious and was interested in trying some samples of the homebrew, the only offering I had availble owever was the "A". About the same time 'los showed up feelin' high and mighty, or at least drunk and edgy and was obnoxious enough for three on is own bottle of Remi Martin, or whatever he brought. But Leslie was excited to try my absinthe, as she hadn't had any in years since she visited someone practicing their own recipe out of a speakeasy arrangement in New orleans. She gave me a lot of really positive feedback, called it perfect and satisfying, and was very appreciative. We hit it off famously, staying up late and drinking absinthe and talking about everything under the sun (and without the aid of driving cats! There's sometihng to be said of set and setting). She gave me a lot of helpful information, not quite in the form of advice, concerning matters of the heart. Not necessarily relating to what to do, but confirming things about "people like us" that make me feel like not such a freak and a not such bad person, and hopefully better able to navigate better in relating to people who are naturally and comfortably affectionate (which, not to mention, was a huge contributing factor in the earlier fight!) Perhaps I'll post more about that as H and I progress through our challenges. She lives nearby in the same neighborhod as Big, Loud Dan so I hope that we'll run into her again sometime during the holidays. It's about time H and I paid a visit to one of their shin-digs.
