May. 20th, 2005 08:49 pmMy status as a bedouhin has officially come to an end today. H and I signed a lease and we're both residents of Fairfax County again. The place is nice, even I have to admit and I have a problem giving apartments credit where they're due - it has a bar!. There is a case of Anchor Liberty ale chillin' in the (Bachelor) fridge for those who're slated to help hump boxes tomorrow. Thanks in advance!
Settling back onto the grid comes with a certain amount of anxiety for me that I can't quite place. It's not like I have a bad rental history; in fact, I believe I've always been a pretty decent roommate, for the most part. Maybe it's that this somehow smacks of permanence that I've come to not trust. There's something illusory about the feeling of finally having ground under one's feet and having it constantly yanked out from beneath that makes me a little nervous. Still, it doesn't change a thing. Regardless of what happens next I go into this with eyes wide open and the confidence that this is the best decision available to me, at least, if not the both of us!
After signing the lease I took H back to her job, dropped off my over-dur library books and treated myself to lunch at a Pho joint in Annandale (Honitown); there's nothing like eating a big bowl of spicy-hot noodles (and cat) with chop sticks that helps a guy think things over.
