The good news is that I recieved a paycheck today (that's news around Hospice).

The bad news is that there is a distinct possibility that due to an previously unforseen 'opening' I might be hired on here full time . . . again, I've heard this one before.

If anyone would like to step forward with a real job offer at this time I would consider it a rescue, otherwise I will be forced to make the 2nd stupidest decision all year.

It would not be stupid to take the full time job. You are going to go back to school in the spring. Take the full time job if it comes. Stick it out til you go back to school and get caught up in the meantime. I will be better prepared to support you while you are in school if you do.

Big picture, honey. Think big picture. I know you hate this. Just don't expect the full time gig, if it comes, great. But if a "better" job comes along (it won't, you have to go get it), and that stops you from going back to school, THAT would be the stupid decision, because ultimately there is one thing holding you back from being able to get out of the rut you are in, and you have a unique opportunity right now to fix that, and I think powers that be are in collusion to steer you into that place.

He's a great houseboy. Unfortunately they don't give tax exemptions for houseboys. :(

Let's launch a line of homemaking books. The title of this one: "LAUNDRAGAMI": The fine and forgotten art of folding your clothes."

I just returned from an extended lunch (dim sum, yum yum . . . are temps the only people that do anything around here?) with a few of my co-workers, Caroline from events and Jan and Beth, both from IT. This has done wonders for my attitude about this place. Jan and Beth are both trying to convince their director to hire someone else. I asked them to bring me on and they both agreed that there's no reason, with my schedule, knowledge, etc., why they couldn't integrate me into that department. But, the PTB around here will likely find it more cost effective to hire someone with 'solid IT experience' to handle the watered-down chores that pass for IT around here, and just use me up and get another when I break.

The PTB I am referring to are much, much bigger than the ones at Capital Orifice.

Those PTB work directly through these ptb; it's big hierarchy of BS. But Beth said specifically she'd pursue that on my behalf and advise me accordingly when she knows something. There has to be a way to make this place workable . . .

You don't want to work at my job. But good luck. And one of these days I swear we'll get to hang out.
