Enough is enough!
Aug. 22nd, 2005 03:32 pmI work for a non-profit, we're constantly soliciting for gifties and constantly getting requests from people who want to be removed from our mailing lists. Although these people are often deadly serious in their requests, those scrawled almost illegibly that read something like, 'For the sake of our lord Jesus-in-heaven-and-all-the-saints, please stop sending solicitations to my father's name, you're killing my mother' are pretty fuckin' funny, when a simple 'remove my name from your mailing list' would suffice (I think, rather, the drama might have a more adverse impact on peoples' well-being). The one I quote here though makes a very, very good point, and very eloquently!

K. Butler, you are an american hero, at age 93! I only wish I could opt-in on this guy's behalf to the federal 'do not hound for money list'.
It is time for me to retire, I have no leisure time, my stress level is high at age 93(!) Over 70 organizations regularly solicit my petitions and my contributions. My name has been freely traded and sold to conservative causes. New organizations continue to appear. Please remove me from your list. You that used my name without my permission have killed the goose that laid the golden egg. (empahasis mine)
