The hippies just left with bags packed, as if they plan to be gone for a few days (I can only hope). Maybe the heat got to be too much for 'em and since their house guest just left to return to Mass. they have no further use for the place unless it's comfy and nice! Right now it's hot as shit!

Just as well. Kathrin has Scotty believing that we've turned the a/c off just to screw with them. Their minds revolve around thoughts of oppression . . . just like in that song about the hippie chick. The truth is that the a/c's been out of commish here since the flood and we've dealt with it (so far) on this side in a more economical fashion - locally, with a couple of well-placed fans. Fuck 'em if they don't trust us - they can call a technician to come out, too, yanno. It's not like their fingers are broke! (oh, nevermind, that's like. . . responsibility, and stuff. The cost of which would cut into the dope fund. There's free and abundant cool air at her parents' house.) And if they want to say something about it I'll tell them that I thought they sabotaged the condenser unit because, as we believed, they had no ducts for a/c on that side of the house and wanted to equalize the field for when we ask them to pay half the electric. But, somehow I think that the point of how stupid they come off sometimes wouldn't convey when they are so adept at projection, themselves. And you'd think they'd ask, "Dude, what's up with the a/c?"; but do they? No, they've already made up their minds that we're the assholes and we're fuckin' with them!

I guess I'm just dissappointed that a psychology major doesn't exercise a firmer grip on her own mental states when they're so apparent to the people around her.

Sorry your house is so hot. I know how unbearable it can be too cause my parent's house is currently working with only min ac. I live downstairs so it doesn't bother me as much but as the day wears on, it can be pretty nasty.

If you and H are up for going out, to get away from some of the heat, let me know.

Don't ye know that 85% of everyone who goes into the field of psychology does so because they either have doubts themselves or someone in the past has questioned their mental health?

Although, in my personal experience the percentage is somewhere up around 100. . .

I'd have to venture the thought that your "psychology major" is perfectly happy with her mental state. It's been working quite well for her all this time.

Spade's a spade Deanski. She's not a hippy. She's an opportunist. Hippies only serve to provide great fodder for those kinds of people. Just ask Charlie Manson. ;)

If they're gone though, I'll have to see about stopping by to visit you sometime. I've got a birthday coming up this weekend, a crapload of cash burning a large hole in my pocket, and a strong desire to share in the festivities.

Tony V. (and the clan) are taking me out on their new sailboat for a cruise on the weekend, but I plan to be partying all week. How about a bar crawl through deepest darkest Monday or Tuesday? You seem to know all the best places.

Oh yeah.. How about sending a nukka an e-mail addy sometime? You got mine.

The last line of your post applies to someone else we know. lol College degrees can't fix some things. Hmmm, think I'll spend thousands of dollars on education to say "I have a college degree", and then just sit home and do nothing.

For those of you who don't know who I'm talking about, this isn't to slight anyone because they have a degree. Just those who toss it into every conversation, yet sit home and do nothing, or think they're smarter than those who don't.

Well, actually, I guess finding someone to pay for the degree and all other life necessities AND you still get to sit home and do nothing, IS smart. Nah, I like my life better.

There are just some things one cannot learn from college - the most important being able to maintain a positive attitude! Although it may not lead directly to professional advancement, that one factor will get us further along in life.

Oh, that made me laugh. You know, I think the thing that sets some degrees apart from others is that some of us worked our asses off to get them, and paid for them (and are still paying for them) to boot.

But the other thing I know is that I have a helluva lot of book smarts, but not as much other smarts. I've gotten better at emotional smarts and mom smarts, and even have a few ounces of common sense now, but ultimately, I know where my strengths and weaknesses are.

Wait, perhaps that IS common sense--that, and knowing not to tell other people all about their weaknesses unless they specifically ask for help with them.
