training offers no promise of happy endings. Rather, this "I" who wants to find security-who wants something to hold on to-can finally learn to grow up. The central question of a warrior's training is not how we avoid uncertainty and fear, but how we relate to discomfort. How do we practice with difficulty, with our emotions, with the unpredictable encounters of an ordinary day?

what say i spend a bit of this freetime i have coming up (and i have a lot of it) swinging up through medford and brewing a batch of beer with ya. i'm thinking a good heavy winter porter. 'cuz winter can be hard to get through without beer. i mean, relationships fall apart, people get separated, and then the summer comes back around and we're, like, "what the fuck??? what happened to the cool people???" whaddya say?

yeah, a nice dark beer that goes in congruous contrast to the lightish colors of winter (ie: snow). i'll bring a handful of pale ales to consume in the process! pretty much anytime between the 13th and 31st is open for me, just not on tuesdays.
