Exorcising the Haunted Theatre. . .
Mar. 3rd, 2005 07:26 pmThese ghosts, what we percieve to be the future and the past are intrinsic aspects of one's state of conciousness in the present. When we carry in our minds a heavy burden of the past we will likely experience more of such in the future. Our lives are not what they were five minutes ago or five years ago, nor are they what they will be by any measure of mintues or years. Our lives are only that which they are in the moment that is now. By entertaining (energizing) negative feelings the mind naturally writes a script about the 'drama' of our life's situation, by taking that personally we write ourselves directly into the middle of it all, we are it's star - the drama becomes our life. We have stopped using clock-time, like the tool it is, and have allowed our thoughts to be used, as the subjects and vehicles of psychological time.
If the situations we consider as problems or suffering were miraculously lifted from us today, but we had become no more conscious or present through practice, then our woes would soon be replaced by a similar set of problems following us like shadows, or ghosts in the theaters of our minds. Ultimately there is only one problem: the time-bound mind, itself.
An uncluttered and unencumbered mind decides best in the moment at hand, and a glad heart chooses the optimal path for the creation of the future.
