. . .And I ask myself, 'Why couldn't I have come to these realizations earlier? I could've saved myself so much time, so much anxiety. Perhaps I could've avoided this mess, entirely'.

No sooner am I reminded - To have done so would've cost me everything.

Besides, hitting speed bumps and running over asshole pedestrians serves to make sure the suspension works, and dislodges those unsightly buildups of road salt and slush that accumulate behind the wheels.

Thinning the herd when they throw a rod due to a shoddy maintenance routine and come to a juddering halt at the side of the road, left to cast envious stares at those motoring serenely by in their hard-driven but well-kept Bentley or Ferrari, is one of life's few joys.

Commuting should be a contact sport done among the skilled, not a pedantic slog among the semi-sentient clogging up our motorways like so much vehicular cholesterol.

If you'll excuse me, I've got a date with eight cylinders and a heavy right foot. There are some unwanted pedestrians in a nearby crosswalk.
