makes 5 gals.
  • 3.3 lbs. Muntons amber extract
  • 3.3 lbs. Coopers light malt extract
  • 8 oz. crushed crystal malt 20L (partial mash, 20 mins. @ 160˚F)
  • 1 oz. Northern Brewer bittering (alpha acids 7.1%, 1 hour)
  • Northern Brewer finishing hops (alpha acid 6.8%, last 5 mins. of boil)
  • packet of Nottingham dry brewers yeast
6:30PM - added No. Brewers hops in sparge bag.

7:25PM - added No. Brewers hops to sparge bag.

Bittering and finishing with pelleted hops in a sparge bag seems to make very little difference as I'm still seeing that free-floating trub still makes its way into the wort.

O.G. - 1.064 (60˚F)
F.G. - 1.016 (60˚F) est. {1.022}

6.7% ABV

<-----EDIT----->
Bittering and finishing with pelleted hops in a sparge bag helped keep 2 C. of what looks like poop out of the wort. Virtually no trub!

<-----EDIT ON NOV 1ST----->
